Varalakshmi Vratham is observed by married women in honour of Goddess Lakshmi, the deity of wealth and prosperity. It is celebrated during the Tamil month of Aadi/Avani on a Friday considered auspicious. The festival is performed to seek the blessings of Lakshmi for family well-being, wealth, and harmony. Women decorate the home, set up a kalasam symbolizing the goddess, and perform detailed rituals with devotion. It is believed that sincere observance brings long-lasting prosperity and success.
