Vinayaga Chaturthi
Vinayaka Chaturthi celebrates the birth of Lord Ganesha. It is observed in the month of Avani/Bhadrapada and is widely celebrated across India, especially in Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu. The festival begins with the installation of clay idols of Ganesha in homes and public spaces. Rituals include offerings of modak (a sweet). The celebration concludes with the immersion (visarjan) of the idol in water, symbolizing the cycle of creation and dissolution.
