Nobody could find the original trace of this place "Thiruneeragam". The Urchavar blesses the devotees seated in Moolavar's position. As the Lord is in water form ("Neer thanmai" in tamil language) - HE took the fish form in Matsya Avatar, took water as his residing place - tortoise form in Koorma Avatar, and protected the world under the sea in Varaga Avatar and floated in banyan leaves (Lord Krishna) during flood period. No one has so far could trace the era in which these three divya desams came here.
Mangalasaasanam (hymns) by Thirumangai Azhwar. This temple is the 48th temple among the 108 divya desams.
This Lord blesses the devotees in a standing form facing South with his right leg pressed on the ground with the left upward. The Vimana of this Lord is called Jagdeeswara Vimana. Inside this temple, there are three more temples namely Thiruoragam, Thirukaragam and Thirukarvaanam, which totals to 4 divya desams. Sage Akrura has worshipped this Perumal.
People pray this Lord to get rid of their pride.
People do Thirumanjanam (Abishekas) and offer vastras to the Lord.
