Hospitality is an integral part of Indian Hindu culture and tradition! Here are some ways hospitality is expressed:

Traditional Practices

  • Namaste: Guests are greeted with a Namaste, a traditional Indian greeting where the hands are clasped together in a prayer-like gesture
  • Aarti: Guests are often welcomed with an Aarti, a ceremonial lighting of the lamp, which symbolizes the removal of darkness and ignorance
  • Tilak: A Tilak, a mark on the forehead, is applied to guests as a sign of respect and welcome
  • Flower Garland: Guests are often garlanded with flowers, which symbolize love, respect, and hospitality
