According to Purana, Lord Narasimha wanted peace after destroying Hiranakshan and hence selected this place to stay peaceful "Velirukkai" (meaning desire in Tamil language). When Lord Brahma was disturbed by demons during HIs yagna, Lord Narasimha came from Hasthisailam cave and protected Him and stayed here as Yoga Narasimha. HE is also known as Aall Hari and Mukunda Nayakan.
Mangalasaasanam (hymns) by Peyazhwar, Thiurmangai Azhwar. This is the 47th Divya Desam.
Lord Narasimha's blesses the devotees in standing posture facing east under Kananka Vimana. This Lord gave darshan to Sage Brugu here. Sri Maha Desikan has sung "Kamasikashtakam" for this Perumal.

Devotees perform Thirumanjanam (Abhiseka) and Vastras to Perumal and Mother on realizing their wishes. It is believed that chanting "Kamasikashtakam" sloka on daily basis will bring the greatest blessings of Lord Narasimha.
