Anegadham - meaning 'elepant faced Vinayaka' installed this Lingam and worshipped to win against the demon Kesi who abducted Vallabai - daughter of Marichi Magarishi.

The Lord here is Swayambu murthi. Lord Vinayaka married Mother Vallabai in this place. Lord Kubera (Lord of wealth) worshipped here to protect him from the jealous of asura guru - Sukrachariyaar (Venus). The Lord swallowed Sukran to destroy his pride.
