The Lord is seated on a Peeta of minimum height as per the Agama rules. Shrines of Lord Namadeswarar and Mother Gnankshi are on either sides. Apart from this, there are also shrines of Navagraha and Lord Bhairava. The Lord's idol has been removed from its original place for installation in the new temple, while a small idol is placed at the original place.

History of the place

Pommanam Palayam village is on the Coimbatore Vadavalli - Thondamuthur road. There is a place called GKS Nagar. People of that place built a small platform and shed, installed Lord Vinayaka for their daily worship. They also planted a Peepal and Neem tree near by. There lived a real estate businessman. But he met with losses and found it difficult to run his family. He surrendered to Lord Muruga in Vadavalli hills. Soon, his business recovered and he did service to the Murugan temple. Once Lord Muruga instructed the businessman to build a temple fo Lord Vinayaga in a grand manner at a particular place mentioned by the Lord . The businessman realized that the temple is for the Same Lord Vinayaka in his own colony. The construction work started and the temple was raised to 7 feet from the ground and the Lord was installed.

Sun's rays falls on the temple on certain days of the year.
The weight of the Lord Lakshmi Vinayaka is such that even 8 people could not life Him then. But, surprisingly, later only three people were able to lift the idol from the Palalaya room to the present sanctum. Probably the Lord Himself helped them to reach His own place.

Pariharam

As the Lord is Lakshmi Vinayaka (Maha Lakshmi - the Goddess of wealth and prosperity), devotees pray to Him for all prosperity in life.

Pariharam Procedure

After their wishes are fulfilled, the devotees perform abhisheka and aradhanas to Lord.

Sivagama - One time puja daily

Festival Period

Vinayaka Chathurthi is an important festival and an annual festival called Sampathra abhishek is celebtrated.
