History of the place

According to scriptures, a debate arose between Lord Brahmma and Maharishi Narada. Brahmma spelt a curse on Narada, who came down to this place and did penance on Lord Vishnu seeking his grace to teach him all the philosophies covering creation and related principles. Pleased with his penance, Lord taught him the lessons based on which Maharishi Narada wrote the treatise of 4000 lines on the supremacy of Lord Vishnu and the codes to worship Him, titled "Naradeeya Puranam".

Mangalasasanam (hymns) by Nammazhwar, Thirumangai Azhwar. This is the 75th temple in the 108 divya desam.

Temple History, Speciality, Miracle and Greatness

The Lord here is in standing posture facing west and the sanctum sanctorum is circular in shape and the Vimana above it is called Sakala Veda Vimanam. Maharishis Narada and Markandeya worshipped this Lord. It is said that Pandavas came here during their exile life. The temple region is situated on the north of the holy Pampa River of Kerala.
