History of the place

Sage Gautama cursed Indira (Head of Devas) to have eyes throughout his body for misbehaving with his wife Akalya. Indira saw this Lord Shiva among the Karai bushes in this place and relieved of his curse.

Temple History, Speciality, Miracle and Greatness

The lingam is Swayambu murthi facing west. The lingam changes its colour to red in uthrayanam and white in dakshyanam . Mercury (Lord Budha Bhagavan) worshipped this Lord to get a place among the planets. Lord Dakshinamurthi is found with 7 disciples.
