When Gnanasambandar was 12 years, his marriage was arranged. On the way to Achalpuram Shiva temple, Sambandar along with relatives and 63 shiva devotees stayed at Sivapuri as there were hungry and it was hot midday. Knowing this, the Lord (as temple priest) fed the party with a delicious lunch. Lord is praised as Uchi Nathar (meaning Midday Lord and Madhyaneswarar in Sanskrit). People of this place call this temple Kanakambal Koil.
Thirugnanasambandhar. This is the 3rd temple of the 274 devara sthalams.
The Lord is Swayambumurthi here. The Lord is facing east and Mother facing south. One of the sacred places where the Lord Shiva gave darshan to Sage Agasthya. After Mother Parvathi fed Thirugnanasambandhar with Wisdom Milk (Gnanappal in Tamil), Lord Shiva too fed food to the saint.
Anna Prasana ritual (first rice feeding for the child) is done here with a strong belief that the child will never face food problem.
Abishekam to Lord and Mother are done and Vastras offered.
